1. Platform Purpose & Scope
Kobom ("Go Together, Build Together" in Akan/Twi) is a non-commercial digital coordination and visibility portal operated by YABS Network VZW (Registered non-profit in Belgium).
The platform is designed specifically to empower **African diaspora non-profits (VZWs)**, which are primarily small, citizen-led initiatives operating with limited technical resources. Kobom provides tools to lock event calendar dates to avoid community scheduling conflicts, showcase solidarity projects, and collect supporter contributions.
Inclusivity Guarantee: Kobom welcomes African diaspora VZWs represented by anyone, connected to any region or country in Africa, without exclusion or discrimination.
2. Third-Party Usage & Disclaimer of Liability
Kobom functions as a digital hosting platform for independent third-party organisations. While YABS Network moderates organisation registrations for basic authenticity:
- User Responsibility: Participating VZWs and individual users are solely and fully responsible for the accuracy, truthfulness, legality, and execution of all published events, stories, and co-funding campaigns.
- No Liability: YABS Network VZW assumes no financial, legal, or civil liability for third-party activities, event cancellations, venue disputes, or external monetary transactions conducted between supporters and participating VZWs.
- Content Moderation: YABS Network reserves the right to review, suspend, or remove any organisation profile or event posting that violates Belgian law, promotes discrimination, or misrepresents community initiatives.
3. GDPR & Data Protection Commitment
YABS Network VZW is committed to strictly protecting personal data in full compliance with the **European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)**.
Our Data Guarantee:
We strictly respect your privacy. Personal data (email addresses, phone numbers, contact names) will NEVER be sold, traded, rented, or shared with commercial third parties without your explicit prior consent.
- Data Processing: Collected data is used strictly for user authentication, security verification, and sending essential portal notifications (e.g. date lock confirmations, password resets).
- User Rights: You retain full rights under GDPR to access, rectify, export, or request complete deletion of your personal data and organisation records at any time by contacting

4. Maintenance & Financing Model
Volunteer Maintenance: Kobom is maintained on a volunteer basis. The YABS Network team recruits technical volunteers, software developers, and designers who dedicate their time to keep the portal secure, updated, and useful for non-profits.
Financing & Support: Kobom is a non-commercial community tool. Operations are sustained through voluntary donations, public/institutional subsidies, and contributions from supporters who share our mission.
